One year, gone.

Harsh Toke

Well, here I am. Starting over from scratch. Almost exactly one year after starting The Rodda Trials I got into a dispute over billing with my previous hosting agency and in a hasty act of defiance, pulled the plug. What I didn’t realize, however, was that I was the only party that would be negatively affected by said act of defiance. Which is often the case. My content is gone. Held ransom by the company I wanted so badly to flip the bird to. Pissing in the wind.

Gone Fishin'

So here I sit. Sipping coffee and re-evaluating where I want to go with this glorified soap box I’ve dedicated myself to. I’ve got a new site with a slightly different domain name, better hosting, and although my ego is slightly bruised, I’ll be better off in the long run.

Last year will be a tough one to top; 3 weeks in Ecuador, over 300 miles of summer backpacking throughout Washington, another epic Ross Lake Fish Camp, 4 months of living in my truck sprinkled with a bit of couch surfing, one of the best spring snowboarding seasons I’ve ever experienced, and a move back to the beautiful mountain town of Bend, OR. Pretty solid all the way around.

Secret Garden, Cotopaxi.

But if there’s one thing I know for certain, it’s that there is always more adventure down the road. Next week we head out on an 8 state road trip through the desert of the West. Over the course of 18 days we plan on heading from Oregon, up into Washington, over to northern Idaho, sneaking into Montana real quick, then back down into Idaho, allll the way through Utah, poking into Arizona, crossing Nevada with a little layover in Las Vegas, then up through California with a pit stop in Truckee, and finally, the home stretch back into Oregon. Not a bad start to year number 2!

So with a little humility and a degree of embarrassment I’ll say thanks in advance for sticking with me through this weird little journey. Remember to look before you leap. And until next time, keep your daubers up!
